Abstract
The metalic contamination of the environment and its mal-effects on the human tody is closed up as one of the worldwide problems. And the potential exposure, in terms of industrial consumption of metals are increased progressively with the industrial development. The environments of human life, especially of industry are contaminated with many kinds of heavy metals and some kinds of occupational diseases are occurred in industries, caused by the action of the metals.
However, both the environments and human bodies may be contaminated and influenced with some kinds of these metals simultaneously but not independently. Therfore cadmium singly and cadmium with mercury compositly were injected in peritoneal cavity of albino rats to evaluate
the action of cadmium and interaction of cadmim with mercury on organs especially on the liver and kidney tissues, their growth rate (changes of body weight) and Lactic Dehydrogenas e activities applied for liver function.
The results of experiment for accumulation of cadmium in liver and kidney tissues, changes of body weight, pathological findings of liver tissue and LDH.. activities at 10 days after the peritoneal injection of metals during 6 days were as follows;
1. Amount of accumulated cadmium in liver tissue of cadmium single injection group was 3-28 g Cd,/gm liver wet weight, and of cadmium with mercury injection group was 15-33 jig Cd/gm liver wet weight. The degree of accumulation was heavier in cadmium with mercury group than cadmium single one and the degree was inceased according to the increasement of injection dose of metals. In kidney tissue, ranges of the accumulated amount were 24-54 and 29-54 ag Cd/gm kidney wet weight respectively at Cd single and Cd-Hg injection group. The patterns of accumulation were similar to those.
2. There was 4.7% increase of body weight in control group and 6.2% increase in 0.5 mg Cd/kg rat body weight single injection group but 2.2% decrease in 0.5 mg Cd with 1.0 mg Hg/kg rat body
soaighl isijecti6n group. AIsb 4.4% decrease in 2.0 mg Cd single injection group ani 8.3ye decrease in 2.0 rig Cd with 1.0 mg Hg injection group. Ands th3 d:!cress3 of b3iy w--ight b2clm~ more profound according to the am.)uut of m--tals injected.
3. The values of LDH activities in liver tissue were 81,175 in control group, 65,815 in 1.0 mg Cd single injection group and 53,833 B-B units/min/gm liver wet weight in 1.0 mg Cd with 1:0 mg Hg/kg rat body weight injection group respectively.
4. Injuries to liver parenchymal tissue were more severe in Cd with Hg injection group than Cd single injection group under microscopic examinations.
